The Somatic Choir is an invitation to a holistic experience of one’s own voice and that of the collective, an invitation to create a mindful space together in which we can explore and enjoy shared sounds with fun and curiosity.

What does the Somatic Choir focus on?

The focus is on choir singing/collective singing in a holistic form: the conscious experience of voice in one’s own body, in space, with other voices.

• intensive warm-ups of body and voice
• Improvisation, sound experiments, elements from circle singing, games
• Learning songs by ear
• Development of polyphonic songs and canons (international folk, pop, swing, chanson)

All levels are welcome. Knowledge of music notation is useful, but not a requirement. The decision for the vocal range is up to you; there will be no conventional division into “female” and “male” voices.
